It Does What it Says on the Trailer
If you find yourself following a large advertisement for 'Eurowood' the chances are that you are following a Cammack vehicle on its way to deliver one of Eurowood's range of flat-pack log cabins.
Eurowood log cabins are manufactured in Lithuania and shipped to the Cammacks distribution centre at Earls Colne where they are storred, awaiting delivery. The next phase, according to Cammack General Manager, Blev Havord, is,
"Once we
get the Delivery Advice from Eurowood, we contact the purchaser and organise a convenient time for us to deliver the cabin. The delivery address can be anything from a garden centre to a private house. We have to take the rough with the smooth."
As part of the contract with Eurowood, Cammack are obliged to deliver to the door and help unload the flat-pack kit. This can take a couple of hours. However, the fact that Eurowoods' UK Representative is based in the Cammack offices at Earls Colne helps ensure that things go smoothly.
Putting an advertisement on the back of Cammack vehicles is good for both parties. It promotes Eurowood log cabins and as Blev Havord says'
"It provides us with some additional income, that helps offset the rising cost of fuel and other expenses!"

Tail-lift Trailer Makes Life Easy
Not every delivery address has the facilities to unload pallets or similar heavy loads, which is why Cammack have, as part of their fleet a 13.6 metre curtain-sided trailer with a 2 tonnes capacity tail-lift.
Being a curtain-sider, the trailer can be loaded (or unloaded) with converntional fork lift trucks. However, where such facilities are not available, the trailer can be unloaded with a simple pallet truck.
From an operational point of view, it now means that a driver can drop off between one and twenty-six pallets at virtually any location.

Eastern European Connections
A trailer load of pre-packed pickled onions from Wolsztyn in Poland marked the first consignment of what have become regular weekly shipments from Poland and Eastern Europe.
"It is not only trailer loads" according to Cammack General Manager, Blev Havord. "Groupage and Part Loads to and from Eastern Europe are becomming an important part of our business, with regular (weekly) services
to and from Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech
Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia and Montenegro."
Consignments through the Cammack depot at Earls Colne range from pickled onions to spare parts. The 'Pickled Onion' contract, with one of the UK's major food importers/distributors, involves up to 200 pallets being stored by Cammack before being called off, as required, for delivery to customers in the UK.
Distribution staff are remotely able to monitor stock held in Cammack's 55,000 square foot warehouse using Cammack's unique 'Truck Business' system.

Earls Colne - Gateway to Europe
Located close to the ports of Harwich and Felixstowe, Cammack's Earls Colne facility is increasingly being used by European freight forwarders as
a consolidation/distribution centre for London and the south-east of England. Cammack also load up to ten semi-trailers destined for Eastern Europe, every week.
On a regular basis, trailers bound for countries in Europe and Eastern Europe are delivered to Cammack's Earls Colne facility to be loaded with freight collected by Cammack trucks from all parts of the UK mainland. Some trailers arrive already part loaded and Cammack freight handling facilities are used to re-distribute loads before the trailers leave the UK.
Likewise, trailers arrive at Earls Colne, on a daily basis, carrying consolidated freight from Europe. Depending on the particular clients requirements, some or all of the load is transhipped onto Cammack vehicles to be distributed to various locations in the UK.
In many cases the freight forwarder may never see the freight, but can monitor its progress online using Cammack's 'Truck Business' system.
For freight forwarders, particularly those based in Europe, using Cammack as a consolidaton/distribution centre is a cost effective way of handling small consignments that need to be collected from or delivered to diverse locations in the United Kingdom.

New Livery Still Turning Heads
The new Cammack livery now adorns over half the Cammack fleet. It is being gradually introduced as vehicles and trailers are replaced or fitted with new curtain sides.
Introduced in 2005 the new livery was designed to reflect the Company's evolution from a traditional haulier into a modern efficient transport and distribution company.
Speaking about the new logo, Cammack Managing Director, Jim Cammack, said,
"Our old livery was getting somewhat dated and did not reflect the sort of company we are today. What we wanted was a livery that would catch peoples eye. And that is exactly what it has done if the compliments we have received are anything to go by!"

Distribution Hub a Big Success!
When N.C. Cammack & Son moved into their new 55,000 square feet warehouse and distribution centre early in 2005 the facility seemed very big and empty. Three years on it is full of goods ranging from dried fruit to top of the range kitchen appliances.
Set at the commercial heart of East Anglia, near Braintree in Essex, Earl's Colne Business Park is ideally positioned for modern business, offering all the advantages of an out-of-town environment, yet only 40 minutes from London by road or rail.
Situated midway between the M25 London Orbital Motorway, Stansted, London's third international airport and the east coast Ports of Harwich and Felixstowe; the Park provides rapid access to the country's major air and sea ports making it one of the most strategic business locations in the South East and on the very doorstep of Europe. What is more, it is one of the very few Business Parks in the UK with its own airport and customs clearance facilities on site.
Three years ago N.C. Cammack & Son also negotiated a contract with Chelmer Foods to distribute dried fruit and similar products from twenty countries, including Turkey, California (USA), Chile and Sri Lanka.
Chelmer Foods are delighted with the warehousing facilities at Cammacks Earl's Colne distribution centre, the high specification of which helps maintain their range of perishable products in perfect condition.
